Because You have Lived

Because You Have Lived. To laugh often and much. To win the respect of intelligent people, and the affection of children. To earn the appreciation of honest critics. To appreciate beauty. To find the best in others. To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, or a garden patch. To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

Poem

May you see the light on the path ahead When the road you walk is dark. May you always hear, Even in your hour of sorrow, The gentle singing of the lark. When times are hard may hardness Never turn your heart to stone, May you always remember when the shadows fall— You do not walk alone.

Farewell My Friend

Farewell My Friend It was beautiful as long as it lasted The journey of my life. I have no regrets whatsoever save the pain I'll leave behind. Those dear hearts who love and care... And the strings pulling at the heart and soul... The strong arms that held me up When my own strength let me down. At every turning of my life I came across good friends, Friends who stood by me, Even when the time raced me by. Farewell, farewell my friends I smile and bid you goodbye. No, shed no tears for I need them not All I need is your smile. If you feel sad do think of me for that's what I'll like when you live in the hearts of those you love, remember then you never die. (Rabindranath Tagore)

For What Is It To Die

For What Is It To Die - Kahil Gibran For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered? Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you reach the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Native American Prayer

"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, Whose breath gives life to all the world. Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people. Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me. Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf & rock. Help me seek pure thoughts & act with the intention of helping others. Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me. I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy - Myself. Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes. So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame. (Native American Prayer)

Death is Nothing at All

Death is nothing at all Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without trace of a shadow on it. Life means all it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well Henry Scott Holland

Poem

Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what's to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay... Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey's quicker, For some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, We'll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the Lord

Death

It is not death that I fear because I believe it will only free my spirit from the broken shell that houses it. It is the long, slow march towards the final end and the PAIN. ~KDB

Death is a great revealer of what is in a man, and in its solemn shadow appear the naked lineaments of the soul. E. H. CHAPIN, Living Words

Quote

For death is but a passing phase of Life; A change of dress, a disrobing; A birth into the unborn again; A commencing where we ended; A starting where we stopped to rest; A crossroad of Eternity; A giving up of something, to possess all things. The end of the unreal, the beginning of the real. EDWIN LEIBFREED, "The Song of the Soul"
